ABOUT MY METHOD.
Our approach focuses on your specific goals and reading music in order to build a strong foundation for you to understand music as a whole as opposed to just learning song after song. In other words, you'll learn how to play new music within minutes as opposed to months.
Too many teachers nearly ignore the basics leaving the student with an inadequate foundation. You end up learning piece by piece over months instead of truly learning music. My method is inspired by European classical training similar to the way Mozart taught Beethoven. The idea is that once the fundamentals are mastered, you'll be able to play a new piece in a fraction of the time it would take otherwise. Results are disproportionate! For example, we could spend 6 months on learning a new piece. The result after 6 months: you'll be able to play that one piece. When you want to learn a new piece, it will take another 6 or so months to learn.
Alternatively, with our approach, we could spend those same 6 months on truly learning the basics. The result after 6 months: you'll likely be able to read that piece, and if not perfectly, enough to learn it in a couple weeks. And not only that, but you could find another piece just like it that you can read or learn very quickly as well. The world of music will open up because you're able to read the music instead of memorizing a single piece at a time.
With this training, over time, the amount of music you could learn is virtually infinite. The saying goes, "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." We teach you to read music so you can play for a lifetime.
As results-based coaches bringing over 27 years of experience in piano theory, technique and performance to each session, our goal is to teach you to become independent of your teacher, learn to read music, and play like you've always wanted to play.
Lessons are currently available online and in home, depending on the instructor.
I've studied music most of my life, and I have a bachelors degree in music as well, so believe me when I say I've had a lot of music teachers, even a few piano teachers, and Lara is one of the best.
See, there's a fundamental difference between learning to play a song on the piano, and learning to actually play the piano, and Lara understands this. None of my previous teachers have approached it the way that she does; constantly challenging me with new music, we work through piece after piece until after just a couple months practice I'm reading music almost perfectly the first time through.
